NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION
The Animal Justice Party is beyond outraged and saddened by the Liberal Party’s response to the recent live sheep export investigation.
In a recent statement given by Federal Agriculture Minister, David Littleproud, he stated that sheep on dangerous summer shipments will be given more space – space which equates to less than two A4 pieces of paper per sheep, and which will not prevent sheep from suffering severe heat stress
The peak veterinary body the Australian Veterinary Association recommended that no shipments should occur during the hotter Middle Eastern summer months, yet the Liberal Party, even after publicly stating they’d back the science and research, chose to ignore this advice and will continue loading and sending ships throughout the entire year.
After the irrefutable evidence of the immense suffering these sheep endure, and the outrage of the Australian public, the Liberal Party is continuing to condemn thousands of sheep to slowly cook alive on board these ships of shame.
We will not stop until we see a complete ban on all live animal exports. As Australia’s only political party for animals, we will continue to relentlessly put pressure on Labor and Liberal MPs and candidates to acknowledge that changing the law to ban live animal exports is not only the best option for animals, but for everyone involved.
On 9 June let’s stand together with one voice and demand a ban on all live animal exports.
We will be holding a National Day of Action with rallies occurring across the country in Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. For more information including locations and speakers visit each city’s Facebook event:
We will have some posters for people to hold at the rallies but the more we have the greater impact we’ll have. We encourage you to print out the poster below and bring it along.
Unable to attend the rally? You can still play a critical role in banning live animal exports:
Sign our petition. The more signatures we receive, the more pressure we can put on the major parties to listen to the Australian people, who want nothing less than a total ban on the export of live animals.
Become a Member. As a political party we rely on Memberships to stay registered with the Electoral Commission. If we lose our registration we are unable to run in elections. Becoming a Member is also a tremendous help to us financially, as apart from NSW where we have an MP, we rely entirely on donations. If you’re not already a Member, we urge you to become one today.
Use your vote. Your vote is a powerful tool to stop animal cruelty. Next federal election, Vote 1 Animal Justice Party. Your vote will help us secure a seat in federal parliament and give us the power to end live animal exports.
